College Basketball coaching carousel ramping up
We are still weeks away from the end of the regular season, but whispers about the college hoops coaching carousel are already starting to ramp up - with several teams potentially in position to make moves once the season goes final.
Those whispers grew louder over the weekend.
Providence
With Providence sitting in last place in the Big East (with reportedly one of the most expensive rosters in the country) it seems like this will be Kim English’s final season as head coach in FriarTown.
So who could be next?!
Jeff Goodman of Field of 68 thinks Providence should pursue Saint Louis coach Josh Schertz if the team decides to part ways with English.
This then sparked a debate online.
Syracuse
Syracuse lost at North Carolina again on Monday, a loss that isn’t bad on paper, but drops the Orange to 13-10 and 4-6 in the ACC.
Looking at a third straight season without an NCAA Tournament under Adrian Autry, there could be change in Central New York. And some Syracuse fans are pushing for former Syracuse legend and current Siena University coach Gerry McNamara to come back.
Kansas State
Kansas State is last in the Big 12 at 1-8 in conference play. The question is - Are the Wildcats stuck with head coach Jerome Tang? His buyout is $18 million. So yeah, they might be. (more details) After their third straight loss Sunday, Tang said he was “not happy with the results, but proud of the young men” he coaches.

Darryn Peterson wills Jayhawks to win over Texas Tech
Just days after a first-half explosion against AJ Dybantsa and BYU — followed by sitting out nearly the entire second half — Darryn Peterson played a season-high 35 minutes and hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the final 1:20 to lift Kansas to a 64-61 win. Here is video of the two 3-pointers:
His performance does have us wondering: did he hear the noise after the BYU game on Saturday?
** Insert Michael Jordan “and I took that personally” meme.
