K-State fires Jerome Tang, but he’s not going down without a FIGHT
By now you know that late Sunday, Jerome Tang became the first power conference coach fired in college hoops this season.
Whether it was justified or not in Year 4 is up for K-State fans to discuss, but what became interesting quickly was that on top of being fired - Kansas State made it abundantly clear that they had no intention of paying his $18.6 million buyout. The argument: According to ESPN they would fire him for cause, tied to contract language prohibiting conduct that brings “public disrepute, embarrassment, ridicule” to the university.
Well, things got spicy on Monday as ESPN reported that Tang hired noted lawyer Tom Mars to fight the firing, with Mars telling ESPN:
“If K-State’s President (Richard Linton) and AD (Gene Taylor) really think the school was embarrassed by recent events, that’s nothing compared to the embarrassment that both of them are about to experience."
Get your popcorn ready. Things are about to get SPICY.
