New report intensifies scrutiny on Michigan football
A New York Times article details social media interactions involving Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore. New reporting adds another layer to the growing spotlight on Moore, detailing interactions with a woman unconnected to the program that began with a direct message hours before a narrow 21–16 win over Purdue and continued briefly in the days after.
Michigan has not hired a new head coach, but interim coach Biff Poggi addressed the media and offered a blunt assessment of the current state of the football program.

USC-Notre Dame series canceled; Notre Dame adds BYU to replace them
One of college football’s most storied rivalries is going on hiatus. Despite months of negotiations, USC and Notre Dame officials have been unable to reach an agreement to play what would have been the 97th game in the series next season. The temporary end of the USC–Notre Dame series is a jarring development and something that has occurred only once in nearly 80 years. Next season’s game would have marked the 79th consecutive meeting, excluding the COVID-19–impacted 2020 season. The series began in 1926 and was paused only for a three-year stretch during World War II. (per Ross Dellenger, Yahoo Sports).
It wasn’t all bad news, as with USC off the schedule, Notre Dame officially announced a home-and-home with Notre Dame, beginning in Provo next fall.
Earlier this month, Notre Dame opted out of a bowl game after missing the College Football Playoff. The Irish would have played BYU in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. They will still get a shot at the Cougars, traveling to BYU in 2026 and hosting them at home in 2027.
