Braylon Mullins returns, Nik Khamenia transfers over from Duke as UConn reloads after title game run

UConn freshman Braylon Mullins will return for another season with the Huskies after delivering one of the NCAA Tournament’s defining moments — a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to lift UConn past Duke in the Elite Eight. Mullins averaged 12 points per game while shooting 33% from beyond the arc.

And that’s just the beginning of the good news for Dan Hurley’s squad.

They also picked up Duke freshman Nik Khamenia in the transfer portal. Khamenia appeared in 38 games for the Blue Devils last season. In 19.8 minutes per game, he averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 44.4% from the field and 34% from 3-point range. He’ll be a dangerous threat on the wing for UConn. Plus, watch a welcome video for Khamenia with a subtle shot at his former team.

That’s not all, folks. Don’t forget, the Huskies also landed 6’10 big man Najai Hines from Seton Hall, who ranked second nationally in block percentage and was the 19th best player in offensive rebounding percentage.

Throw in returners Silas Demary Jr. and Jayden Ross and Dan Hurley’s Huskies are ABSOLUTELY LOADED heading into next season poised to make another DEEP RUN.

Is Tennessee the biggest portal winner so far?!

On Sunday, the Vols added a BIG piece — Terrence Hill Jr. from VCU. Hill scored 34 to upset North Carolina in the first round of the Tournament. They’re also in the mix for 6’7 Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris who Michigan and North Carolina are also pursuing. Expect a decision from Juke soon.

Tennessee has also added Jalen Haralson, Miles Rubin, Dai Dai Ames and Tyler Lundblade through the transfer portal, giving the Volunteers a stacked roster heading into next season.

Haralson, a 6-foot-7 freshman at Notre Dame last season, averaged 16.2 points per game, while Rubin, a 6-10 junior from Loyola Chicago, posted 11.3 points per game. Ames, a 6-2 junior who previously played at Virginia and Kansas State, averaged 16.9 points per game at Cal, and Lundblade, a 6-5 senior from Belmont, added 15.6 points per game.

Several of these players also appear in Aaron Torres’ top 50 transfers which you’re definitely gonna want to check out.

Could Nate Ament come back and REALLY make things interesting? 👀🍊

A return to Tennessee remains possible for NBA lottery prospect Nate Ament, though no decision has been announced. The deadline to withdraw and retain college eligibility is May 27.

A Tennessee insider said Ament’s lack of a decision this late in April suggests a return is possible, as the Virginia native continues to evaluate his draft stock and is not widely considered a lock for the lottery.

If projections have him outside the lottery, Ament could return for his sophomore season and make similar money through NIL, with Tennessee obviously expected to welcome him back.
