Tennessee lands portal star Juke Harris at exorbitant price

One of the last big portal names came off the board on Monday, when Tennessee landed former Wake Forest star Juke Harris.

Harris was ranked No. 3 overall in Aaron Torres’ portal rankings, marking the fifth different Tennessee commit to land in his Top 75.

The story though isn’t just Harris’ impact on the floor, but his price tag off of it - with CBS’ Matt Norlander reporting that he came with a WHOPPING $5 million asking price.

Yowzahs!

We have a general rule at Aaron Torres Media that we don’t pocket shame any school for paying any price to a player that they deem worthy. It’s not our money, so who are we to say how to spend it? Not to mention: What’s the alternative? Not get the player?

But at the same time, it certainly does rachet up expectations for 2026-2027.

While Harris is still technically testing the NBA Draft waters, there’s no way he plays himself into a slot anywhere near what Tennessee will pay him next year.

And assuming he’s there, it might just be “Final Four or Bust” for the Vols, who moved into the Top 10 of Aaron Torres latest “Way Too Early Top 25” for 2026-2027.

The Savannah Bananas visit College Station - create millions in local revenue

The one man/team barnstorming band known as the Savannah Bananas rolled through College Station on Saturday, playing in front of a record crowd… 102,000 people at Kyle Field.

The question now, that I’m sure many of you are asking: Ok, that’s cool. By why are you talking about it in a college sports newsletter?

Besides the fact that the game was played at one of college football’s great cathedrals, it’s this: The Bananas arrival, reportedly brought $18 million in revenue into the greater College Station area.

This matchup is completely sold out and is expected to generate approximately $18 million in direct economic impact for the College Station area, drawing fans from across Texas and beyond to experience the high-energy show. More than 100,000 fans are expected across the two days, driving hotel demand, restaurant traffic, retail sales, and increased activity throughout Northgate, Century Square, and surrounding districts.

While all of that money clearly isn’t going straight to Texas A&M, it does continue a new trend of schools using their football stadiums as revenue generators in the off-season.

Alabama recently hosted a Morgan Wallen concert, with proceeds going directly to the Crimson Tide’s athletic and NIL fund.

While Nebraska is re-purposing Memorial Stadium as we speak to host events beyond just a handful of Cornhusker games every fall.
