Florida QB DJ Lagway enters transfer portal

Lagway, a former five-star recruit and the No. 1 quarterback in the 2024 class, showed significant promise as a true freshman in 2024, stepping in midseason and leading the Gators to several key wins, including a bowl victory. He finished with an 8–4 record while passing for 1,915 yards with 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

This season, Florida finished 4–8, and Lagway threw for 2,264 yards with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, tied for the most in the SEC. He struggled with multiple injuries, including issues with his shoulder, core, calf, and hamstring.

Despite the struggles, Lagway’s physical tools — 6 feet 3 inches, 247 pounds, strong arm and mobility — and remaining eligibility make him one of the most coveted quarterbacks expected in the transfer portal. Early speculation on landing spots includes Baylor, Texas Tech, LSU, Miami, Clemson and USC, among others.
